Pat Schirk placed fifth in the morning preliminary heats of the 200-meter backstroke on Thursday morning at U.S. Olympic Trials to advance to the semifinals and then followed that up with a sixth place finish in the semifinals on Thursday night to advance to Friday night's finals in the 200 back, his second finals event he has qualified for at this year's Trials. Schirk Finishes Eighth in 100 Back; Penn State Swimmers at U.S. Olympic Trials - Day Three Recap
Pat Schirk, who was seeded 12th in the preliminary heats of the 100 backstroke but advanced through the prelims and semifinals to earn the final spot in the finals yesterday, finished eighth in the finals of the 100 back on Tuesday night. Schirk finished with a time of :54.96, 2.07 seconds behind winner Aaron Peirsol, who won the finals in a new world record time. Read More >>
