Men’s Tennis Loren Byers Earns All-Big Ten First Team, Sportsmanship Award

No. 56 Byers held a 13-6 record this season at first singles

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State men's tennis senior Loren Byers was selected to the All-Big Ten First team and earned the conference's Sportsmanship Award on Wednesday.

 

Byers compiled a 13-6 record at first singles for the Nittany Lions this year.  

 

He ended the regular season ranked nationally at No. 56, marking his sixth week in a row in the polls. Byers won two Top-10 matches against No. 5 Ozan Baris of Michigan State and No. 10 Aidan Kim of Ohio State. 

He also earned wins against Nebraska's Calvin Mueller (currently ranked #67) and Wisconsin's Michael Minasyan (#118).

 

Byers added nine doubles wins this Spring, including five against Big Ten opponents.
