BOSTON – Atlantic Hockey America named Penn State women’s ice hockey goaltender Katie DeSa Goaltender of the Month on Friday afternoon. The award is DeSa’s second monthly honor of the season and third of her career.
DeSa captured five shutout wins in January while earning nine straight wins in net. She tallied a GAA of 1.00, save percentage of .957, and record 207 saves. The Pawcatuck, Conn. native, picked up a win against No. 3 Minnesota as she tallied 32 saves in the Nittany Lions 6-2 victory.
On the year, DeSa stands with a 22-4-0 record, save percentage of .940, and GAA of 1.29. She sits second in the nation in wins, four in GAA, and eighth in save percentage. DeSa sits second in program history for most wins by a goalie in a single season. She also has eight shutout wins on the year, which is second most in a single season in program history.
Penn State returns to action on Friday, February 7 when they host Mercyhurst. The puck-drops at 6 p.m.
