UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State men’s tennis team dropped its match to No. 51 Purdue on Friday. Despite close and intense matches, the Nittany Lions fell 4-0 to the Boilermakers.
DOUBLES
Loren Byers and Sam Bossem fell on court one, 6-2, against Aleksa Krivokapic and Juan David Velasquez. On Court 3, Shri Murugesan and Reiya Hattori dropped their match to Maj Premzl and Henrik Villanger, 6-4.
At the second spot, Charl Morgan and Marcus Schoeman led 5-4 against Daniel Labrador and Nour Fathalla when the match went unfinished as Purdue had already claimed the doubles point.
SINGLES
Morgan took Court 2, but fell in a tiebreaker, 6-3, 7-6(4), against Velasquez. At third singles, Bossem dropped his match to Villanger, 6-3, 6-2. Hattori played at the fifth spot fell, 6-4, 6-4, to Fathalla.
At the top spot, No. 53 Byers took on No. 65 Krivokapic, taking their match into a third set with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 3-4. On Court 4, Schoeman was leading 7-5, 2-3 against Premzl. Murugesan was set to begin his third frame against Simeunovic with a 6-4, 3-6 score. All three matches went unfinished as Purdue had already clinched the match.
UP NEXT
The Nittany Lions conclude their season against Indiana for Senior Day on Sunday at 1 p.m. The match is scheduled to be played at the Sarni Tennis Center outdoors but may be held at the Indoor Tennis Center depending on the weather the day-of.
