Nittany Lions to Face Providence in 2025 Hall of Fame Showcase

Game set for Nov. 22 at Mohegan Sun Arena

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Penn State men’s basketball team will face Providence in the 2025 Hall of Fame Showcase on November 22 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Wednesday afternoon.

The Penn State vs. Providence game will be part of a doubleheader that will also feature Boston University vs. Harvard.

Details surrounding game time and broadcast information will be announced at a later date. Tickets for the 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase will go on sale Friday, September 5, via Ticketmaster and on sale at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office starting Saturday, September 6.

"We’re excited for the opportunity to bring our team to the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut to face a strong Providence team,” said Peter and Ann Tombros Endowed Head Coach Mike Rhoades. “This will be our second-straight year competing in a Hall of Fame event, and we know it will be a first-class experience for our group. The game will challenge our team early in the season and allow our fans and alumni in the Northeast region the chance to see us play in a fun college basketball environment.”

The Nittany Lions and Friars will meet for the fourth time in program history and the first time since 2012. Penn State owns a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series between the two teams, including a 55-52 overtime win in the 2012 Puerto Rico Tip-Off and a 69-59 victory in the first round of the 2001 NCAA Tournament.

Penn State will enter its third season under Peter and Ann Tombros Endowed Head Coach Mike Rhoades in 2025-26. Rhoades has laid a strong foundation during his first two seasons, and welcomes back a core group of returnees and the highest-ranked recruiting class in program history for the 2025-26 season. Rhoades orchestrated the highest-scoring offense in Penn State history in 2024-25 as the Nittany Lions set a single-season program record with 79.1 points per game during his second season at the helm.
