Penn State Shines in Latest Academic Progress Rate Report

Twenty-three Penn State teams deliver perfect 1,000 APR scores in 2023-24

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa – Penn State student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom and surpass Division I national averages, according to Academic Progress Rate (APR) data released today by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

The NCAA reported 23 Penn State teams, including all 14 women’s programs, earned perfect APR scores of 1,000 during the 2023-24 academic year. The teams earning a perfect single-year APR are men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, men’s fencing, women’s fencing, field hockey, men’s golf, women’s golf, women’s gymnastics, men’s hockey, women’s hockey, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, women’s soccer, softball, women’s swimming & diving, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, women’s track & field, men’s volleyball, women’s volleyball and wrestling.

In addition, 11 Penn State squads earned Public Recognition Award from the NCAA, which recognizes the top 10 percent APR teams in each sport: baseball, women’s cross country, women’s fencing, field hockey, women’s golf, women’s gymnastics, men’s hockey, women’s swimming & diving, men’s tennis, women’s track & field and men’s volleyball.
