Ako Poti is looking forward to the 2009 season and an opportunity to compete for time in the offensive tackle rotation. He redshirted the 2008 season to continue his transition and development, having enrolled at Penn State in January 2007 after spending three semesters at San Francisco Community College, near his hometown. Poti has good size, skills and strength and has made considerable strides in his bid to win a more prominent role on the O-Line this season. He is battling Dennis Landolt at right tackle, but Landolt spent some time at left tackle during spring practice, which potentially could open the door for Poti to move up. He was an All-America tackle at SFCC and saw time at guard and tackle in his first season as a Nittany Lion. He was on schedule to graduate in August.
