A valuable, hard working walk-on, Leiner is an asset for the Nittany Lions in practice, where he has displayed skilled ball handling and a honed shooting touch from the perimeter. In the classroom, he has earned Dean[apos]s List recognition three times and has twice been an Academic All-Big Ten selection as he has over a 3.5 grade-point average in finance.

2007-08 SEASON JUNIOR
Lettered...Leiner saw action in four games, including a career-best five point and one assist outing in a win over Canisius... Earned Aca-demic All-Big Ten selection for the second season.
2006-07 SEASON SOPHOMORE
Lettered...Named the winner of the Scrappiest Player Award at the post-season banquet for his propensity to stick his nose in against bigger players...Played in eight games...Scored his first collegiate point at Indiana on March 3...Earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition...Earned Dean[apos]s List recognition in the spring semester.
2005-06 SEASON FRESHMAN
A walk-on...Leiner worked his way on to the Penn State roster through the try-out process and added significantly to Penn State[apos]s practices in his first season...Displayed quickness, ball handling skills and adept long range shooting while carrying a strong work ethic into every practice...Played in four games on the year...Earned Dean[apos]s List recognition for posting over a 3.5 GPA in the spring semester of 2006.
HIGH SCHOOL
A three-year starter at Whitehall HS (also the home of all-time Nittany Lion three-point shooter Pete Lisicky)...A first-team all-Lehigh Valley selection and an honorable-mention all-area pick his senior year...A two-year captain...Helped Whitehall (a PIAA-AAAA school) to a combined 55-8 record his last two seasons and Lehigh Valley and District II championships in 2004 and 2005...Team lost to eventual state champion Chester in the 2005 playoffs as Leiner scored 15 points.
