Summer 2007: Spencer kept busy at the Charlotte Ultraswim of the Grand Prix series, swimming in the 50, 100, 200 and 400 freestyle events. He also finished 17th in the 200 free at the Mid-Atlantic Senior Championships.
2006-07: During the season, Spencer swam in every freestyle event from the 50 through the 500 and also swam on all three freestyle relay teams. At Big Ten[apos]s, he picked up points as a part of the 800 free relay team that finished fifth and also swam in the 50, 100 and 200 free, setting a career best time in the 200 free. In the year, he had one first place finish as part of a relay team and also had one second place and one third place. He swam to the third-fastest time of the year on the team in the 200 free.
Meet-by-Meet Highlights: Finished fifth in the 200 free and was a part of the fourth place 400 free relay team....Part of the third place 200 free relay team and the seventh place 400 free relay team at the Clemson/Virginia/Virginia Tech/Penn State quad-meet....Placed seventh in the 200 free and was on the fifth place 400 free relay team at the Purdue Duals....Picked up points for Penn State as part of the sixth place 400 free relay team and fourth place 800 free relay team and also swam in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 free at the Bell Grand Prix....Came in third in the 100 free in the dual meet vs. West Chester....Finished second in the 100 free with his best time of the year in the dual meet vs. Rutgers....Placed 13th in the 100 free, sixth in the 200 free, ninth in the 500 free and was on the winning 800 free relay team, the fourth place 400 free relay team and the fourth place 200 free relay team at the Shamrock Invitational....Was a part of the fifth place 800 free relay team and also finished 22nd in the 100 free at Big Ten Championships.
2005-06: Spencer[apos]s main events were the short and middle distance freestyle events, as he swam extensively in the 50, 100, 200, and 500 freestyle events. He also briefly saw action in the 100 butterfly and saw quite a bit of action in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relays. He swam in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events at the Big Ten Championships and gained points for the Nittany Lions as part of the 200 and 800 free relay teams that both finished eighth. He swam his best times of the year in the 50, 100 and 200 free at Big Ten[apos]s. He was a part of five first place relay teams and won one individual race.
Meet-by-Meet Highlights: Finished fifth in the 200 free and third in the 100 free at the dual meet vs. Ohio State....Placed third in the 50 free and the 100 free and was on the first place 200 free relay team at the dual meet vs. Kenyon....Came in 10th in the 100 free and was on the second place 200 free relay team at the Shamrock Invitational....Finished fifth in the 100 free and was a part of the first place 400 medley relay team and the second place 400 free relay team at the dual meet vs. Rutgers....Won the 50 free and also finished with the fastest time in the 500 free while swimming as an exhibition at the dual meet vs. St. Bonaventure....Finished third in the 100 fly and was a part of the first place 200 free relay team in the dual meet at Florida....Picked up points for the Nittany Lions in the 200 free (12th place), and as part of the 200 free relay team (9th place), 800 free relay team (5th place) and 400 free relay team (8th place)....Placed third in the 100 fly and was on the first place 400 free relay team at the dual meet vs. West Chester....Came in fourth in the 100 free, seventh in the 200 free, and was on the second place 200 free relay team and first place 400 free relay team at the Auburn/Purdue/Virginia/Penn State quad meet....Part of the second place 400 medley relay team in the dual meet vs. LaSalle....Finished second in the 200 free and 100 free and was on the second place 400 free relay team in his first collegiate meet, the dual meet vs. West Virginia.
High School: Maglich was a two-time state champion at Sarasota High School in swimming-rich Florida. He was the 2004 200 free champion and was a member of the 2001 200 medley relay title team. In 2002, he was state runner-up in the 50 free and placed third in the 100 free.
Personal: Maglich lists surfing as his top hobby. He is the son of Rick and Janet Maglich and has two sisters, Nicole and Elisa.
