PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Penn State men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up day one of the highly-anticipated Penn Relays in Philadelphia with five new personal-record marks.
TOP PERFORMANCES
The Nittany Lions had a strong performance during both the men’s and women’s 1500-meter race. Sarah Pickering set a new PR of 4:18.92 after finishing 15th overall. Jake Allen came back to win the men's 1,500-meter in 3:43.16 to set a new PR while Nick Sloff finished in eighth place in 3:46.08.
Gabi Deglau won the women's hammer throw with a new PR of 56.42m (185-1). Nathan Williams placed third in the men's hammer throw with a 65.99m (216-6) heave, while Collin Burkhart finished in seventh, recording a 62.09m (203-8) throw.

Men’s 400-meter Hurdles
- Matt DeMatteo finished in a time of 52.94
Men’s 1500-meter
- Allen finished in first place, setting a PR of 3:43.16
- Sloff finished in eighth place in 3:46.08
- Christopher DeSousa finished in 16th place in 3:47.68
- Kevin Haas finished in 17th place in 3:47.83
Men’s 3000-meter Steeplechase
- Justin Healey finished in 16th place, setting a PR of 8:54.17
- Ryan Watson finished the race in 8:56.58 to set a new PR
