On Matt Senneca's Performance
I have never doubted it. I tried to tell you guys I think Senneca is a good quarterback. He has had some bad luck and was never able to get in a groove because balls were dropped or this happened or that happened. He got in a groove today and he is a good quarterback. I thought he played a really fine football game and I couldn't be happier for the kid. We put a lot of pressure on him today and he put a lot of pressure on himself. We tried to help him out by telling him to relax and have some fun out there, but deep down I know there were some knots in his stomach.
On Indiana's Option Attack
The thing about playing a club that does that kind of stuff is that it is so difficult to really assimulate what they do in practice. You really have to be disciplined and look at it. We weren't bad in the first half, we let them off the hook a couple of times with a scramble and a couple of big plays. We weren't good on the first drive, but once we got out of that I thought we played a good solid football game.
Why Ron Graham shared the outside linebacker duties?
Because of the type of offense they were running on the perimeter we felt we need a little more speed with the linebackers. Ronnie Graham is stronger, but he doesn't give you that kind of athletic ability right now, if he got down to 240 he would. Both those kids can run, they don't have great size but they can still be good outside linebackers.
On Defensive Strategy
Well later we did, early in the game we weren't quite sure what they were going to give us. They give you a lot of different formations and they jump around a great deal. So we went in the game with the idea to stay put until we see how they are doing some things. Then when Tom (Bradley) saw what they were doing he went after them a little more.
Can you think about a bowl game after the win?
We have to win two games and if something happens fine. I like to see these kids go out of here on a good note. They have been a great bunch of kids and have stuck in there now. I would like to see them end up on a winning note. It won't be easy though, Michigan State has always been tough for us out there. I haven't looked enough at Virginia to tell you how good they are yet.
Was Zack Mills available to play in an emergency?
Well we might have put him in the shotgun and just thrown the football, but he is hobbled. Some of you probably watched him in pre-game practice, he wasn't ready to go. If we had gotten in a jam, we probably would have been able to stick him in the shotgun so he wouldn't have to drop back. It really would have had to have been a desperate situation for us to put him in. We had someone else ready to play quarterback if we had to do that.
Did you take anything out of the offense this week?
No, we did just about the same things we've been doing. Maybe you pull one pass out and out another in, something like that. I think the guy that really deserves a lot of credit is Jay Paterno. He really stuck behind (Matt) Senneca. We had a couple of serious discussions and he told me Matt was going to be alright. I think Matt sensed that there was that kind of confidence in him.
On Antwaan Randle El
He is some athlete. I was looking for him after the game to tell him what a great athlete he is.
