UNIVERSITY, Pa.; October 8, 2005- Nursing a 13-game scoring streak and only three goals away from tying the Big Ten career goals mark, senior striker Tiffany Weimer (North Haven, Conn.) will be the subject of Sunday's promotion versus Iowa when replica headbands, her trademark apparel, are given away to the first 500 fans at the Penn State vs. Iowa match.
For her career, Weimer now has 79 goals, sitting three goals behind Penn State alumna and 2001 Hermann Trophy winner Christie Welsh's record of 82.
A top player of the year candidate, Weimer has 20 goals this season in the first 13 games. She has scored one or more goals in each of the Lions' games, chasing an NCAA record of 15 consecutive games with at least one goal each, currently held by Santa Clara's Brandi Chastain.
Sunday's match vs. Iowa will be No. 2 Penn State's last home Big Ten match. The game begins at noon. at Jeffrey Field. The Penn State men's team will battle Wisconsin immediately following the women's contest on Sunday. Admission is free to all Penn State soccer games.
