Courtney Molinaro sets a screen as the team conducts walk-throughs in a ballroom at the Omni Hotel before its game vs. Ohio State

After Thursday??s tough win over Wisconsin, Penn State did get some bad news in the locker room afterward: Ohio State, as the higher seed, had first choice of shootaround time for Friday, leaving the Lady Lions with the 7 a.m. slot.

Head coach Rene Portland thought about it and decided that a good night??s rest was more important than walk-throughs at Conseco, especially since her team had already conducted a practice and played in a game at the Indianapolis arena.

But that didn??t mean her team wasn??t going to hold a morning practice. After a pregame breakfast, the team headed to a ballroom at the Omni Hotel for a quick review sesssion. Associate head coach Annie Troyan took the team through Ohio State??s out of bounds and sideline plays on the ballroom floor. Although they used a mini basketball and guesstimated the size of the key, the preparations seemed to serve the team well as it worked out last-minute kinks and questions about Ohio State.

The ballroom practice ended just hours before tipoff. Fans can catch Penn State??s game vs. Ohio State Friday at noon on FSN Pittsburgh and Comcast Chicago.
