UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; May 30, 2006 - Two Penn State Nittany Lion lacrosse players have been named to the 2006 USILA All-America team, earning Honorable Mention honors. Junior Pat Heim (Wayne, Pa.) and freshman Drew Adams (Springfield, Pa.) both earned Honorable Mention laurels.
Heim, a midfielder and three-year starter for Penn State, was a first team All-ECAC pick for the second straight season. He scored 22 points this season, scoring 17 goals and dishing off five assists. Heim heads into his senior year in 2007 with 67 career points off 44 goals and 23 assists.
Adams, a true-freshman starter in the net for Penn State, was a first-team All-ECAC pick, the ECAC Goalie of the Year and the ECAC Rookie of the Year. The talented rookie posted an 8.25 goals against average with 164 saves this year. He led Penn State to an 8-5 record, a 5-1 mark in the ECAC and an appearance in the ECAC title game.
Penn State, coached by veteran mentor Glenn Thiel, is coming off an 8-5 season that saw it drop a tough 10-9 decision to Georgetown on the season's final day in the game that decided the ECAC champion. The Lions garnered a number of impressive victories on the year, including a 7-5 win over eventual national runner-up UMass in April.
