UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.; March 19, 2007 ?? Former Lady Lion Julie Soriero was recently named the head of the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation and Director of Athletics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Soriero will join MIT on July 1 as an associate professor.
Soriero most recently served as the athletics director at Colorado College for the last three years and held several roles in the Tiger Athletic Department, including head women's basketball coach, director of events, Senior Woman Administrator and Senior Associate Athletics Director, during her nine years at CC. Soriero also had stints as the women??s basketball coach at Philadelphia University and the University of Pennsylvania.
Soriero played for the Lady Lions under Mary Ann Domitrovitz from 1971-74, helping PSU post an 18-13 mark during her career. Soriero graduated from Penn State in 1974 with a bachelor??s degree in health and physical education, then went on to earn her master??s in sports psychology from Temple University in 1982.
