UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; April 30, 2007 - Coming off a successful month of April that saw the Nittany Lions go 14-6, the Nittany Lion baseball team will begin the month of May by hosting what is scheduled to be its final non-conference game of the year on Tuesday night vs. Villanova. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

Coquese Washington, the newly named Penn State women's basketball head coach, is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Tuesday's game.

Penn State (19-21) will look to rebound after dropping the final two games of the series at Indiana this past weekend. Prior to losing the last two, which gave the Lions a series split with the Hoosiers, Penn State had won seven games in a row, its longest winning streak since 2001. The Nittany Lions have also been playing better in the fielding department lately, as prior to committing two errors in Sunday's series finale, the Nittany Lions had gone six straight games without committing an error.

Making the start on Tuesday night will be freshman right-hander John Karr, who will be making his second career start. He also started last week's midweek game against Duquesne.

The Nittany Lions will be looking to break a four-game losing streak to the Wildcats. The teams have played in each of the past four years, with Villnova winning all four contests, twice at Villanova and twice in State College at the old Beaver Field. Prior to the teams renewing their series in 2003, the teams had not met since 1976, which was Penn State's last win in the series.
