University Park, Pa. - The Penn State baseball team, which began fall practice earlier this week on Monday, will hold its first two scrimmages of the fall this weekend. The first will be on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. and the other will be on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. This weekend's and all fall intra-squad scrimmages are open to the public.
Penn State baseball fans are encouraged to check GoPSUsports.com weekly for recaps on the fall scrimmages as well as a weekly scrimmage schedule, among other features that are currently being planned for fall practice and scrimmages.
A total of eight newcomers have joined the Nittany Lions this year and are practicing with the team for the first time in fall practice. Those newcomers are:

Head coach Robbie Wine's Nittany Lions, who tied for second place in the Big Ten last year, will return six of their eight regular position starters from last year as well as three of four weekend starting pitchers, three key relief pitchers and a top starting pitcher from 2006 that missed nearly all of last season with an injury. They are tentatively scheduled to open fall practice on September 10th.
