WBCA Classic Tournament Central
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Lady Lions will host Pittsburgh in the final game of the WBCA Classic today at 4 p.m. in the Bryce Jordan Center. The winner will take home the WBCA Classic title as both teams enter today's match-up with a 2-0 record. The contest will be the first-ever women's basketball broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
Last night, Penn State posted a 73-67 victory over Charlotte led by Rashida Mark's (Brooklyn, N.Y.) first career double-double with career highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Brianne O'Rourke (Pittsburgh, Pa.) also established a career high with 18 points of her own to go along with six assists and two steals.
In the first game of the tournament, the Lady Lions handed Arizona an 87-78 loss for the first victory of the Coquese Washington era. Kam Gissendanner (Clairton, Pa.) with 23 points, while Mashea Williams (Erie, Pa.) accounted for 19 points, five assists and three steals.
The Lady Lions hit the road for the first time this season on Thursday at Xavier. It will be a meeting between Washington and her former colleague at Notre Dame and current Musketeer head coach Kevin McGuff.
