UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., Dec. 11, 2007 - The Penn State men's basketball team improved to 5-4 on the season with a 61-38 victory over Princeton at the Jordan Center on Wednesday. With the loss, Princeton falls to 2-8 on the year.
Geary Claxton (West Haven, Conn.) led the way with 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. The game marked Claxton's 22nd career 20-point game and his 22nd career double-double. Jamelle Cornley (Columbus, Ohio) chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds. Although Claxton and Cornley were the only Lions in double figures, 10 Penn State players scored in the contest.
Zach Finley paced Princeton with 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Lincoln Gunn added 13 markers for the Tigers.
After a very slow first half, Penn State took a 26-11 lead into the locker room, holding Princeton to just 20 percent shooting from the field in the half (5-of-25). The Nittany Lions shot 62 percent from the field in the second half, and led by as much as 28 on their way to the 61-38 victory.
The Nittany Lions will next host Denver in the Bryce Jordan Center on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The game will be a Big Ten Network webcast.
