Mississippi Game Notes

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Lady Lions (7-3) close out the home portion of their non-conference schedule when they host SEC foe Mississippi (4-3) Thursday night in the Bryce Jordan Center at 8 p.m. The first 100 Penn State students will receive a "Driving Miss Crazy" t-shirt. It is also Dollar Dog night at the Jordan Center where fans can buy a hot dog from any of the BJC concession stands for $1.

The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network with Brent Stover and Vera Jones calling the action. The game can also be heard on the Penn State Sports Radio Network with Jerry Fisher (play-by-play) and Chris Morelli (analyst) describing play. Locally the game will air on the radio on WMAJ. The audio feed and a link to GameTracker are available at www.GoPSUSports.com.

The Lady Lions have lost three of the four all-time meetings against Ole Miss. Penn State's lone win was an 82-79 victory on Dec. 28, 1978 in the first-ever meeting between the squads. The Rebels posted a 65-48 victory over the Lady Lions last season in Oxford. This is Mississippi's first-ever trip to Happy Valley.

Kam Gissendanner (Clairton, Pa.) pulled down a career-best 17 rebounds and registered 10 points en route to her third double-double of the season in the 56-47 win over Georgetown Sunday. Her 17 boards are the most by a Lady Lion since Amanda Brown grabbed 18 caroms against Illinois in the Big Ten Tournament last season (3/2/07) and is the sixth highest single-game rebounding output in school history.

Junior post Rashida Mark (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned her second double-double of the season against the Hoyas with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while junior guard Brianne O'Rourke (Pittsburgh, Pa.) led four Lady Lions in double figures with 12 points.

Sophomore guard Tyra Grant (Youngstown, Ohio) leads four Penn State players that average double figures with a 14.1 per game mark, which is ninth in the Big Ten. Gissendanner is tied for 16th in the league in scoring (11.7), eighth in rebounding (7.8) and fifth in free throw percentage (85.7).

The Rebels are 4-3 this season, including a 73-64 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Monday morning. Shawn Goff leads three active Ole Miss players in double figures with 11.1 points per game, while Carla Bartee averages a double-double with 11.0 points and 11.7 rebounds.

The Lady Lions finish its non-conference schedule at Bucknell on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m., before taking 13 days off for final exams and the holiday season. Penn State opens the 2007-08 Big Ten schedule at Iowa on Dec. 28.
