The Nittany Lion basketball team improved to 7-4 with a win over Colgate Sunday afternoon at the Bryce Jordan Center, downing the Red Raiders, 66-48. Penn State senior Geary Claxton led all scorers with 14 points while recording five rebounds and three assists. Junior Jamelle Cornley added 12 points and 10 boards in the home win, as the Lions improved to 7-0 at home this season. Freshman Jeff Brooks recorded a career-high 10 points, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the field while scoring all his points in the second half. Brooks went 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Colgate's Kendall Chones led the Red Raiders with nine points. Alex Woodhouse added eight points and gathered a game-high nine rebounds.Losing 30-20 at the half, the Red Raiders narrowed the gap to a five-point deficit with 15 minutes remaining. The Nittany Lions then lengthened the gap, finishing the half by shooting 13-for-31 (41.9%). Penn State outrebounded Colgate 42-34.Penn State plays their final game of 2007 at home on Monday, Dec. 31 against Lehigh. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.More to come...
