Anderson and Williams Named Penn State Student-Athletes of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - This week, Matt Anderson of the men's volleyball team and Mashea Williams of the women's basketball team have all been named Penn State Student-Athletes of the Week.

Anderson, a junior outside hitter, helped to lead the volleyball team to its first tournament title at the Outrigger Invitational in 14 years. He was name the Most Outstanding Player of the Outrigger Invitational with an average of 6.20 kills per game on .405 hitting and a total of 17 digs and seven blocks.

Junior guard Williams had impressive performances during both of the games this past week. She averaged 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals for the two games. The Lady Lions defeated Illinois after Williams scored at the buzzer, making the final score 49-48. The Erie, Pa. native also hit and surpassed the 500-point mark for her career during the game on Jan. 2. At Michigan State, Williams scored 18 points, leading the team to a 69-57 win. Williams was also recently named Big Ten Player of the week.
