Lady Lions Host Michigan State for Senior Day Sunday at 2 p.m.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Lady Lions (13-12, 4-9) close out their three-game homestand against Michigan State (15-11, 7-7) on "Senior Day" at the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Lady Lions will honor senior Kam Gissendanner (Clairton, Pa.) before the game. Penn State is in the midst of a school-record six-game losing streak and has lost eight of their last nine contests.

Fans will receive a Lady Lion lunchbox while supplies last and Sunday is also a 4 for $40 day where fans will get four tickets, four hot dogs and four drinks for $40. The "67 Women - 67 Counties: Facing Breast Cancer in Pennsylvania" traveling photo exhibit concludes its stint at the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday.

The games will be televised on the Big Ten Network with Kellie Goodman and Vera Jones calling the action. The contest can also heard on the Penn State Sports Radio Network with Jerry Fisher (play-by-play) and Chris Morelli (analyst) describing play. Locally the game will air on the radio on WMAJ. The Lady Lions are 23-6 all-time against Michigan State with a 20-5 mark in Big Ten games. Penn State put an end to its 12-game Big Ten road losing streak with a 69-57 victory over the Spartans at the Breslin Center on Jan. 5. The Lady Lions are 13-0 all-time against Michigan State at home.

When these teams met in East Lansing on Jan. 5, the Lady Lions snapped a 12-game Big Ten road losing streak with a 69-57 victory over Michigan State in front of the sixth-largest crowd in Breslin Center history and a national audience on CBS. Brianne O'Rourke (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had a solid all-around performance as she tied her career high with 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, dished out four assists and pulled down six rebounds. Mashea Williams (Erie, Pa.) added 18 points, six rebounds and seven assists in the win.

O'Rourke became the 10th player in school history to reach 400 assists for her career with six helpers in the loss to Minnesota Thursday night. With 401 career assists, she is 10 dimes away from tying Tanya Garner for ninth place on the all-time list. Freshman Julia Trogele (Devon, Pa.) had a career performance off the bench against the Golden Gophers. She accounted for career bests of six points, three blocks and 22 minutes played. She also pulled down four rebounds.

Freshman Janessa Wolff (Park Rapids, Minn.) has held her own against a strong freshmen class in the Big Ten this season. Wolff is eighth among Big Ten rookies in conference play in scoring (6.5), fourth in rebounding (4.8), first in field goal percentage (.556) and tied for fourth in total blocks (8).

The Lady Lions' Second Annual THINK PINK Day proudly supported by Mimi Barash Coppersmith, which was Sunday, Feb. 10 against Iowa, was once again a success in the fight against breast cancer as the team has raised more than $30,000 to date for four breast cancer charities. The inaugural THINK PINK Day in 2007 earned $20,490.95. The final fundraising total will not be known until the end of the season. The Spartans evened their Big Ten record (7-7) and improved to 15-11 overall with a four-point win at Indiana at Thursday night. Sophomore Allyssa DeHaan averages 14.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game and leads the Big Ten in blocked shots (109). Kalisha Keane is accounting for 12.7 points and 6.3 rebounds a game, both of which are second on the team.

The Lady Lions hit the road for a two-game swing in the state of Illinois, taking on the Illini on Thursday, Feb. 21 before meeting Northwestern on Sunday, Feb. 24. The Lady Lions return to the Bryce Jordan Center for their final home game of the regular-season on Thursday, Feb. 28 against nationally-ranked Ohio State at 7 p.m.
