Baseball Season Opener Rained Out on Friday; Postponed to Saturday

Feb. 22, 2008

High Point, N.C. - Penn State's much anticipated 2008 season opener will have to wait one more day, as the scheduled first game of the season on Friday has been postponed to tomorrow. The Nittany Lions and High Point will now play a doubleheader featuring two nine-inning games on Saturday beginning at noon. Sunday's scheduled 1:00 p.m. game will be played as scheduled as well.

With temperatures in the 30s and a steady rain that has been falling all morning and throughout the night but a forecast for temperatures in the 60s and a much warmer and sunnier day on Saturday, it was decided that a doubleheader on Saturday would be the best option. With the new schedule, both Mike Wanamaker and Mike Lorentson will now take the mound for the Nittany Lions on Saturday.

A series preview, complete with game notes and Coach Robbie Wine's first weekly podcast of the season is available here.
