Kevin Tan to Perform on NBC's Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's gymnastics assistant coach and Olympic hopeful Kevin Tan will appear on the Tylenol Cold Presents Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular which will be broadcast on NBC at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sat., Feb. 9. Taped late last year at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, the event will feature a collection of the world's top figure skaters and gymnasts.

Under the tutelage of Penn State head coach Randy Jepson, Tan, USA Gymnastics' Sportsman of the Year in 2007, has emerged as one of the world's top still rings competitors and an anchor on the U.S. senior national team. At the 2007 World Championships, Tan, a team co-captain, helped the United States place fourth and secure a berth to the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. Earlier in the year, he won the still rings title at the 2007 Internationaux de France - World Cup in Paris, France. Tan has also won back-to-back still rings titles at the VISA Championships.

As a Nittany Lion, Tan became the program's first two-time NCAA rings champion (2003-04) and was a six-time All-American. In his senior season, he was a finalist for the Nissen-Emery Award.

Tan will headline a contingent of four Nittany Lions that will compete this week at the prestigious Winter Cup Challenge, a two-day event sponsored by USA Gymnastics that will take place at the Las Vegas Sports Center in Las Vegas, Nev. Tan is the two-time defending Winter Cup still rings champion.
