University Park, Pa. - After what ended up as a 13-game roadtrip to begin the season after one game was cancelled due to weather, the Penn State baseball team will open its home schedule with a three-game series this weekend against in-state foe Lehigh, beginning with a 3:35 p.m. game on Friday afternoon. Saturday's and Sunday's game are each scheduled for a 1:05 p.m. start.

All three games this weekend as well as the remainder of the schedule this year will be broadcast on GoPSUsports.com with Loren Crispell calling all the action. This Sunday's game can also be heard on WBLF 970 AM.

Penn State holds a 31-6-2 record all-time against Lehigh. The series dates back to the 1901 season. Although the two clubs have met extensively in their histories, this will be the first three-game series ever between the schools. All other meetings have either been single games or a same-day doubleheader.

This weekend's series will be just the second meeting between Penn State and Lehigh since 1977. The teams played a game at BrightHouse Networks Field in Clearwater, Fla., the spring training home of the Philladelphia Philles, two seasons ago. In that game, former Nittany Lion hurler Aaron Markowitz threw a complete game shutout as Penn State blanked the Mountain Hawks 4-0. Lehigh's last win in the series came in 1974 as Penn State has won four straight.

Seth Whitehill will start the home opener on Friday for the Nittany Lions. He will be followed in the starting rotation by Mike Lorentson on Saturday and Mike Wanamaker on Sunday.

Following this weekend's three-game series against Lehigh, the Nittany Lions will play a Monday afternoon game against Canisius at 3:35 p.m. That game was just added to the schedule this week to make up for the game against Penn last week down in Florida that was cancelled.
