UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - Senior guard Kam Gissendanner (Clairton, Pa.) has been selected to attend the WNBA Pre-Draft Camp, which will be held April 4-5 at the University of Tampa during the NCAA Women's Final Four.
The WNBA Pre-Draft Camp offers WNBA coaches and general managers an opportunity to evaluate the skills of approximately 40 top prospects from the current senior class. Players will participate in on-court sessions and compete against one another in hopes of improving their draft status.
The 14-team, three-round WNBA Draft will take place in Tampa Bay on April 9 at 1 p.m. The first round of the draft will be televised live on ESPN2 with continued coverage of the second and third rounds on both ESPNU and NBA TV. The Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla., will host the draft.
Gissendanner was an All-Big Ten third team selection by the coaches this season after finishing in the Top 10 in the Big Ten in both scoring (13.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg). Gissendanner entered the season without a double-double in 72 career games, but posted six double-doubles this season, including a 24-point, 11-rebound performance against Indiana in the regular-season finale. Earlier this season Gissendanner became the 30th Lady Lion to reach 1,000 career points and she finished her career 21st on the Penn State career scoring charts with 1,238 points in just three campaigns.
