UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Paced by a pair of goals from All-American Katie Schoepfer and freshman Meghan Gill's first tally, Penn State beat Villanova 3-0 in spring action.
Freshman dynamo Dani Toney found Schoepfer for the first goal and the 1-0 Penn State lead at the half. Schoepfer tallied another in the second half and Gill's goal made it a 3-0 victory for the Nittany Lions at home.
All-American Alyssa Naeher and freshman Alanna Pawlowski combined for the shutout. Pawlowski was the only sub for a Penn State team thinned by injuries and missing Melissa Hayes, who is still at camp with the U.S. Under-20 Youth National Team.
Penn State's next two matches are Saturday, April 12, when the team travels to the KICKS for Breast Cancer Tournament where it will meet William & Mary at 11 a.m. and the Washington Freedom at 6p.m. The tournament will be played at the SoccerPlex in Germantown, Md.
