The Penn State men's tennis team was honored for their outstanding work in the classroom with the Varsity "S" Award at the 21st Annual Academic Achievement Awards Banquet Monday night at the Bryce Jordan Center.
The Varsity "S" Award was presented for the seventh time and goes to the women's and men's teams with the highest team GPA. The men's tennis squad and head coach Todd Doebler took home the men's honor for the 2006-07 academic year, while the women's cross country team, coached by Beth Alford-Sullivan earned the women's award.
The members of Penn State's 29 varsity programs combined to earn an overall 3.13 grade point average in 2006-07, a slight improvement from 2005-06.
