Penn State sophomore women's gymnast Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) will compete in the first preliminary session at the 2008 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships, held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24 in Athens, Ga. For the second year in a row, Personett qualified as an individual all-arounder by finishing third at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships last weekend at Rec Hall.

Personett, who will compete with Arkansas, will open up the meet on bars and move to beam. Following a bye in the third rotation, she will move to floor and then close out the meet on vault.

Live scoring will be available for the meet at www.GoPSUsports.com.

A two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection, Personett scored a 39.400 in the all-around last weekend, the third-highest regional all-around score among the individual qualifiers.

The women's gymnastics championships consist of 12 teams and 12 all-around competitors (who are not on a qualifying team) and individual event specialists. The top two teams and the top two all-arounders from each of the six regionals received automatic berths to the national championships.

The top four individuals from each of the two sessions in each event (plus ties) from the preliminary team and all-around competition will compete in the individual event competition on Saturday, April 26 at 6:00 p.m.
