UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Former Penn State women's soccer standout Tiffany Weimer (2002-05) continues her impressive semi-professional career as she was named to the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Team of the Week. Weimer netted a goal and two assists in SoccerPlus Connecticut's 5-0 win over the Boston Aztecs.
Weimer first got on the board in the opening half as she directed a pass from PSU junior Katie Schoepfer (Waterford, Conn.) to fellow Team of the Week member Maggie Tomecka who netted the goal. Schoepfer and Weimer would connect again as Weimer assisted on Schoepfer's goal in the second half. The final tally would come with under six minutes to play as Weimer would net the final goal of the game giving the Reds a 5-0 victory.
In goal for the Reds was Penn State junior Alyssa Naeher (Seymour, Conn.) who recorded the shutout.
Weimer was the 2007 East Player of the Year for the WPSL and currently leads the league in goals, assists and total points.
