Nittany Lion Lacrosse Recruit Matthew Mackrides Leads Team USA to ILF U-19 World Championship Match

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Incoming Penn State Nittany Lion men's lacrosse player Matthew Mackrides (Newtown Square, Pa.) scored seven points to carry Team USA to a 25-5 thumping of England in the semifinals of the International Lacrosse Federation U-19 World Championships.

Mackrides, who will join Penn State this fall as a true freshman, had three goals and four assists as Team USA led 11-3 at the half and coasted to the lopsided win. In six games thus far, Mackrides has 17 goals and five assists for 22 points.

Team USA is 6-0 heading into Saturday's U-19 World Championship title game against Canada. The game, set for 5:30 p.m. Eastern, is a rematch of Team USA's closest contest to date in the tournament, a 16-15 win in pool play.

The tournament is being held in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.
