University Park, Pa. - On Saturday, Oct. 4, the women's volleyball match between No. 1 Penn State and Michigan State won't be the only battle going on. The Nittany Lions have teamed with the Side-Out Foundation for the first annual "Dig Pink" match to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.
The Penn State-Michigan State match, which will be televised live on the Big Ten Network at 7:00 p.m. from Rec Hall, is one of several hundred "Dig Pink" matches going on around the country this fall. Both teams will be participating and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match and to visit www.GoPSUsports.com to donate to the cause, or click here to help reach the $5,000 goal.
The proceeds from all donations benefit the Side-Out Foundation, a national 501 (c)(3) located in the Washington DC metropolitan area. Funds (which are 100% tax deductible) are currently devoted to targeted therapies and molecular profiling, which is where there have been breakthroughs in diagnostics and treatment. Visit the Side-Out Foundation website at http://www.side-out.org for more information.
Tickets for the match will be on sale at the door and are $5 for adults, $3 for youth and $2 per person for groups of 10 or more. Penn State students are free with their PSU ID.
