UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Official 2009 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State proudly supported by Mimi Barash Coppersmith t-shirt will be available for purchase beginning this weekend at the football homecoming game against Michigan on Saturday. The shirts are $15 with $10 of every shirt going to the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition. Fans can purchase the shirts at all Penn State Bookstore locations and on www.goPSUsports.com.

Saturday also marks the kickoff of the Pink Zone fundraising campaign with Lady Lions "Shoot for the Cure" as part of the Comcast Streetfest at the Michigan football game. The event, which will be located beside the Bank of America truck, located outside Gate A of BJC, will take place from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Lady Lion coaches will be on hand from 2-3 p.m. and the Lady Lions will be at the kickoff event from 3-4 p.m. Lady Lions "Shoot for the Cure" gives fans the opportunity to make a free throw for $1. With a made shot, fans will win a prize will be registered to win the grand prize, a pink Polaroid digital camera and an autographed 2009 Lady Lion Basketball Yearbook. All funds raised on Saturday will go to the general Pink Zone Fund. The Lady Lions will also be selling the official Pink Zone at Penn State t-shirt at the event.

The 2009 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State proudly supported by Mimi Barash Coppersmith (formerly known as THINK PINK Day) will take place on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 3 p.m., as the Lady Lions take on Iowa in the Bryce Jordan Center. The game can be seen on www.bigtennetwork.com. The first two Pink Zone events have raised more than $50,000 for breast cancer awareness. This year's fundraising efforts will benefit the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. The Lady Lions return four starters and 10 letterwinners from a year ago, including third team All-Big Ten selection Brianne O'Rourke (Pittsburgh, Pa.). The senior point guard led the Big Ten in assists for the second time in her career and finished 51st nationally with a 4.7 per game mark. She was also 39th in the NCAA in free throw percentage (.838). Junior guard Tyra Grant (Youngstown, Ohio) garnered All-Big Ten honorable mention accolades for the second time in her career after leading the team and finishing ninth in the conference in scoring (13.8).

The Lady Lions being the 2008-09 campaign with an exhibition game against California (Pa.) on Sun., Nov. 9, before opening the 2008-09 regular-season campaign with a three-game homestand against South Carolina (Sun., Nov. 16), Stony Brook (Wed., Nov. 19) and Prairie View A&M (Fri., Nov. 21).
