Guillaume St-Maurice Earns Upset Win for Men's Tennis at Georgia Tech Invitational

University Park, Pa. - Junior Guillaume St-Maurice (Saint-Eustache, QC, Canada) repeated the Friday success of teammate Ryan Gormley (Las Vegas, Nev.) on Saturday, as he cruised to an upset win over No. 5 seed Ryan Yharra of UNCW in the Round of 16 in the "B" Draw (6-2, 6-0).

With the victory, St-Maurice went on to face Furman's Fuelkell in the quarterfinals of the draw. Fuelkell ended St-Maurice's fantastic run in straight-sets (6-3, 6-4).

In other singles action, Gormley continued his success in the "A" Draw Saturday with a victory over Furman's Galum Lee in straight sets (6-4, 6-0). He was later defeated in the quarterfinals by the No. 1 seed Jamie Hunt of Georgia (6-2, 6-4).

In doubles action, Gormley and St-Maurice teamed up and competed in the "A" Draw consolation bracket. The pair defeated Michael Pereira and Kinshuk Sharma of UNCW, 8-6. Tomorrow, they will face Charlie Jones and Bryant Salcedo of Vanderbilt in the consolation semifinal bracket.

Following the Georgia Tech Invitational, senior Brendan Lynch (North Potomac, Md.) will represent Penn State on Monday at the All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. On Oct. 16-21, the Nittany Lions will participate in the ITA Regionals in New Haven, Conn. Following that, the Big Ten Indoor Championships will take place on Oct. 30-Nov. 3 in Madison, Wis.
