UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., Nov. 11, 2008 - When the Nittany Lion basketball team tips off its season vs. William and Mary this Friday night in the Bryce Jordan Center, fans will have the opportunity to meet some of the region's other top sportsmen as several Pittsburgh Pirates and members of the club's front office will be in attendance and signing autographs on the concourse.
Pirates starting pitcher Jeff Karstens, relief pitcher Sean Burnett and third baseman Neil Walker will be in attendance and will sign autographs on the concourse starting at 5:30 p.m. The group will sign autographs through the 10-minute mark of the first half and then the Pirates players will join Penn State students in a halftime shooting contest. The Pirate Parrot will also be in attendance and available for photographs.
Pirates President Frank Coonelly and Executive Vice President/CFO Jim Plake, both PSU alums, will also be in attendance at the game. Coonelly and Plake will be addressing Penn State Smeal College of Business undergraduates Friday at 5:00 p.m. in the Thomas Building as part of the University's programming for the new Center for Sports Business and Research.
Penn State's contest vs. William and Mary tips off at 6:30 p.m. in the Jordan Center as the Nittany Lions get their 113th season of basketball underway. The game will be played the night before the football team's Saturday, Nov. 15 match-up with Indiana at noon in Beaver Stadium. Football tickets for the Indiana game can be shown at the door of the Bryce Jordan Center to receive a 2-for-1, buy-one-get-one free ticket to the game.
