NCAA First Round Notes

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Nittany Lions will travel to Piscataway, N.J. for the first round of the NCAA tournament to face Rutgers. This will be the second time this season that these teams will meet at Yurcak Field. The winner of this match will face the winner of #4 Oklahoma State/Fairfield.

Penn State holds a 7-1-1 all-time series record with the Scarlet Knights. The teams met earlier this season in Piscataway as Penn State took a 1-0 victory in double overtime. Scoring for the Nittany Lions was Nikki Watts (Hungerford, England). This marks the 14th NCAA Tournament bid for the Nittany Lions in their 15-year program history. In that time, Penn State advanced to three Elite Eights and three college cups. Last year, the team advanced to the third round before falling in a 1-0 decision to West Virginia.
