UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., Nov. 17, 2008 - The Nittany Lion basketball team will look to continue a seven-game home win streak Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. when they take on Hartford (0-2) in the Bryce Jordan Center.
Penn State has won 12-straight non-conference home games dating to 2006 after a 74-47 victory Monday over NJIT.
Sophomore Talor Battle (Albany, N.Y.) has led Penn State in scoring in each of its first two games and ranks fifth in the Big Ten averaging 18.5 ppg. The Nittany Lions made 13 three-pointers vs. NJIT and are the Big Ten's second leading three-point shooting team averaging 10.5 per game.
Hartford is coming off a 99-56 loss at No. 2 Connecticut on Monday. They return five starters from a team that went 18-16 last year and tied for second in the America East Conference. The Hawks gave Penn State a scare in the team's only other meeting falling 56-55 in 2006 at the Jordan Center.
Thursday's game is the second of four for Penn State that are part of the Philly Hoop Group Classic. Penn State will complete its run in the tournament with two games at Philadelphia's Palestra on Friday, Nov. 28 and Saturday, Nov. 29. Penn State will play Rhode Island in Friday's game and then take on the winner of Villanova vs. Towson on Saturday.
