Conference-Leading 23 Nittany Lions Honored on ALC Academic Honor Roll

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State placed a conference-high 23 players on the American Lacrosse Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2007-08 school year, the league office announced this week. Student-athletes who maintained a grade point average of 3.0 or better were eligible for the honor roll.

Highlighting the list were three-time First Team All-ALC selection Jessi Lieb and 2008 All-ALC Second Team honorees Linsey Shea, Kerry Shea (Baltimore, Md.), and Theresa Bucci (Hudson, Ohio). Kerry Shea is Penn State's returning scoring leader for the 2009 season after tallying 23 goals and six assists a year ago. Shea, along with fellow honor roll honorees Laura Lincicome (Berwyn, Pa.) and Megan McGuire (Eldersburg, Md.), will captain the 2009 squad. Also qualifying for the honor were an impressive six members of the 2008 freshman class.

Head coach Suzanne Isidor, in her ninth season at the helm of the Penn State program, returns 23 letterwinners and eight starters and has added a highly touted class of recruits for the 2009 season. The Nittany Lions begin play on Sun., Feb. 15 when they welcome Cornell to Happy Valley for an exhibition contest. Game time and location are yet to be announced. Penn State kicks off regular season play three days later on Wed., Feb. 18 when it hosts Lafayette at 7 p.m.
