UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., Dec. 9, 2008 - The Nittany Lion basketball team will continue a six-game home stand to close out the month of December on Wednesday when they take on Army in the Bryce Jordan Center at 7:00 p.m. The game will be televised live to a national audience on ESPNU.
It will be "Armed Service Night" at the Jordan Center with all Penn State ROTC students receiving free admittance with their ID. Also all military personnel presenting an ID at the door will get a ticket for $10. Fans will receive a Penn State Basketball Patriot Hat while supplies last. As throughout the month of December, fans making a donation of an unwrapped toy to "Toys for Tots" at the door will receive a free youth ticket or a $5 adult ticket.
Penn State enters Wednesday's game with a 7-2 record and is led by the scoring of sophomore point guard Talor Battle who ranks second in the Big Ten posting 19.2 points per game and third averaging 5.6 assists. Senior Jamelle Cornley continues to rank among the top players in the Big Ten in scoring and rebounding and brings averages of 14.4 points and seven rebounds a game into the contest.
Army brings a 2-6 record into the game and is coming off a 59-48 victory at Bryant University on Monday. The Black Knights are led by junior guard Cleveland Richard who averages 10 points and four boards a game.
A reminder to fans that Saturday's match-up with Mount St. Mary's has been moved to a 1:30 p.m. tip so as not to conflict with the NCAA Regional Volleyball Championship being held at Rec Hall at 4:00 p.m. next Saturday.
