UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Freshman midfielder Christine Nairn has propelled to new heights before setting foot on the field as a Nittany Lion. U.S. Soccer made the announcement Saturday that Nairn will be the newest addition to the Senior Women's National Team roster.
Nairn will attend a 17-day training camp on January 20 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. before competing in the Algvare Cup in Portugal from March 4-11.
The Bowie, Md. native was the youngest member of the U-20 Women's World Cup Team and will be the youngest player in WNT camp. She arrived on campus this semester after delaying her enrollment last fall to focus on preparations for the U-20 Women's World Cup. Nairn, who is age-eligible for the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, has earned 11 international appearances so far with the U.S. U-20s and has extensive experience with younger U.S. youth national teams as well.
Other Nittany Lions who have attended WNT training camps include Kelly Convey, Joanna Lohman, Emily Oleksuik, Christie Welsh and Tiffany Wiemer.
