Holt Named AVCA National Player of the Week

University Park, Pa. - Penn State men's volleyball senior middle hitter Max Holt (Cincinnati, Ohio) has been named the AVCA Division I/II National Player of the Week, officials from the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced. The honor is the first of Holt's career and the first since Luke Murray captured the accolade on March 27, 2008.

Behind Holt's play, top-ranked Penn State picked up two more sweeps to improve to 10-0. Against Harvard, Holt tied his single-match school record for the second straight contest, hitting a perfect 1.000, going 12-for-12 in two games of action, with his 12 kills equaling match- and season-high marks. He also added in two aces and two blocks for a team-high 15.0 points against the Crimson. Versus No. 14 Ohio State in front of 4,170 fans at Rec Hall, Holt pounded eight kills on 10 swings with only one error to hit .700 with one assist and a match-high three blocks for 10.0 points.

For the weekend, Holt posted a team-high 20 kills, an average of 4.00 kills per game, on .864 hitting (20-1-22) with two aces and five blocks for a team-high 25.0 total points, an average of 5.00 points per game.

Penn State takes to the road, traveling to Loyola-Chicago and IPFW on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, before returning home to host Saint Francis on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall.
