Game Notes Vs. Indiana

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., Feb. 27, 2009 - Penn State (19-9; 8-7 Big Ten) will honor four senior players and five senior managers before it looks to log a program record 14th win of the season in the Bryce Jordan Center Saturday vs. Indiana (6-21; 1-14 Big Ten). The game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. tip on the Big Ten Network. Senior salutes will begin at 5:40 p.m. with special video highlights for each player.

Four-year players Jamelle Cornley, Danny Morrissey and Will Leiner and two-year junior college transfer Stanley Pringle will be honored prior to game time. Cornley is on pace to leave Penn State as just the third Lion ever to post 1,500 career points and 700 rebounds and ranks in the top 10 of both categories. Morrissey ranks third all-time in three-point shooting with 208 and has nearly 900 career points. Pringle has downed 88 threes on his career and ranks as the Big Ten's leading three-point shooter this season. Leiner is a former walk-on who earned a scholarship in his final campaign.

Penn State, currently tied for fourth in the Big Ten, will look to add to an NCAA tournament resume that includes five wins vs. the RPI Top 50 and no losses to teams currently ranked above 60 in the RPI. The Lions are one of just three teams in the country to log a pair of road victories over Top 25 ranked teams this season. Penn State has won 10 of its last 12 Big Ten home games dating to a victory over No. 7 Michigan State last February

Penn State stands one win away from posting just the 10th 20-win season in program history and the first since going 21-12 in 2000-01. With three regular season games remaining and post-season play, the Lions are eyeing one of the top win marks in program history. The 1989-90 team owns the single-season wins record with a 25-9 mark. Penn State logged its 8th Big Ten win of the season at No. 16 Illinois on Feb. 18, marking the Lions' most Big Ten wins since going 8-8 in 1997-98. The win total is tied for Penn State's third-most ever behind a 12-6 campaign in 1995-96 and a 9-9 season in 1994-95.

The Hoosiers are 1-14 in the Big Ten and have lost their last five games after posting a victory at home over Iowa (68-60) on Feb. 4. Indiana, which has just one scholarship returner from last year, are 6-21 on the year with one win since Dec. 10. They are coming off a 75-53 loss to Northwestern in Bloomington on Wednesday. Guard Devon Dumes leads the team with 13.0 ppg and 54 threes while freshman post Tom Pritchard is posting 10.2 ppg and 6.6 rpg. Indiana is last in the Big Ten giving up 70.9 ppg and scoring just 60.5 and averages 18 turnovers per contest.
