"Tonight we served well, defensively we played awfully well, our blocking was good and we seemed to touch everything," said head coach Mark Pavlik. "We never really let them get rolling. We prepared well this week for this match."

Redshirt freshman outside hitter Joe Sunder (Greensburg, Pa.) led all players with 13 kills as junior outside hitter Will Price (Gaithersburg, Md.) and senior middle hitter Max Holt (Cincinnati, Ohio) chipped in 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Three ties ensued before back to back monster blocks by Holt and Sweitzer gave Penn State the 16-14 lead. The Patriots again climbed back to even the game at 19-19 but a George Mason service error, a Lipsitz kill and a Patriot attack error pushed the Nittany Lions ahead 22-19. Penn State retained the lead, going up 27-24 on a Sunder kill and ace before a Price kill ended the game, 30-25. Sunder posted seven kills in the set as Lipsitz and Sweitzer both recorded three blocks.
