April 24, 2009

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's soccer team will cap off a highly successful spring season on Sat., April 25 when it takes on Hamilton Croatia, a club team from Canada, at noon at the Nittany Lions' practice facility adjacent to Jeffrey Field. The match-up is just one event that will highlight Penn State Soccer Alumni Weekend.

Following the varsity game, a family, friends and alumni tailgate will take place prior to the football's annual Blue-White game in Beaver Stadium, set to begin at 2 p.m.

Preceding the Nittany Lions' spring finale, starting at 10:30 a.m., former Nittany Lions will take to the field for some friendly competition.

The weekend's festivities will begin on Friday night at 9 p.m. with a comedy show at Wisecrackers Comedy Club at P.J. Harrigan's at the Ramada Inn State College, with proceeds from ticket sales through the team to benefit its upcoming trip to Brazil.

With the spring season complete, the Nittany Lions will turn their attention to their rapidly approaching tour of Brazil. Departing on May 10, Penn State will play four games against Brazilian club teams from around the South American nation as well as take in several professional matches.
