BELFAST, Northern Ireland - Rising senior forward Katie Schoepfer (Waterford, Conn.) traveled with the U.S. Women's U-23 Squad to Northern Ireland for a three-game road trip in May. Schoepfer earned the start in the first game against the Northern Ireland Senior team.
Schoepfer headed an offense that out-shot the Northern Irish squad by a 15-3 margin, but couldn't put a goal past goalkeeper Tiarna McKenna in a 0-0 tie on May 15 in Belfast.
Schoepfer completed the whole 90 minutes for the Americans who were scheduled to play two games against Ireland's Senior National team, but those games were canceled. Instead, the U-23s played two friendlies against an Irish select side for the final two matches.
This is Schoepfer's second time around with the U-23 contingent, having previously made an appearance against the English team in March 2008.
