UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Head coach Erica Walsh of the Penn State women's soccer team will throw out the first pitch at Saturday's State College Spikes game against Williamsport. The Spikes and Crosscutters of the New York-Penn League are set for a 1:00 p.m. game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Walsh, a southpaw, will be on hand for the Spikes' opener of a three-game set against the Crosscutters. The series is the last homestand of the year for State College.
Walsh's first pitch will kick off the festivities of the Penn State Invitational, which starts Saturday evening. BYU will face Connecticut at 5:00 p.m., while the hometown No. 8/5 Nittany Lions take on No. 14/17 West Virginia at 7:30 p.m. on Jeffrey Field.
Admission and parking is free to Saturday's event, which is Dollar Dog Night at the stadium. The tournament concludes on Monday with games at noon (BYU vs. West Virginia) and 2:30 p.m. (Penn State vs. UConn).
