2009-10 Lady Lion Basketball Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Penn State women's basketball team announced its television and live streaming arrangements for the 2009-10 season today. The Lady Lions will appear on the Big Ten Network at least four times and have games streamed on BigTenNetwork.com on at least 16 occasions.

The Lady Lions will appear on the Big Ten Network three times in the month of December, beginning with the Big Ten/ACC Challenge game against Georgia Tech on Wed., Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m., from the Bryce Jordan Center. Penn State is back on the Network in its Big Ten opener on Sun., Dec. 6 at Minnesota at 4 p.m. Eastern. The Lady Lions are also on the Big Ten Network against Pittsburgh on Sat., Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. The Lady Lions will honor the 10th anniversary of the 2000 Final Four team at the Pitt game. Penn State's final Network appearance will be the home game against Indiana on Sun., Jan. 10 at noon. The last two games of the regular season (vs. Wisconsin and at Indiana) have the potential to be picked up as part of the conference's wildcard series. The Big Ten Network will broadcast two wildcard contests, one on Thurs., Feb. 25 and one on Sun., Feb. 28.

Ten of Penn State's home games will appear on BigTenNetwork.com and six of their road Big Ten games will be streamed live on the Big Ten Network website. The games will be available on pay-per-view basis for the price of $2.99 per event.

The Lady Lion home schedule features 15 home games beginning with an exhibition game against Indiana (Pa.) on Sun., Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. The rest of Penn State will take on NJIT (Sun., Nov. 15; 2 p.m.), Georgia Tech (Wed., Dec. 2; 6:30 p.m.), Monmouth (Wed., Dec. 9; 7 p.m.), Pittsburgh (Sat., Dec. 12; 1 p.m.), Oakland (Mon., Dec. 21; 7:30 p.m.), Iowa (Mon., Dec. 28; 7 p.m.), Indiana (Sun., Jan. 10; noon), Michigan State (Sun., Jan. 17; 1 p.m.), Illinois (Sun., Jan. 24; 1 p.m.) and Purdue (Thurs., Jan. 27; 7 p.m.), Ohio State (Sun., Feb. 7; 1 p.m.), Minnesota (Thurs., Feb. 11; 7 p.m.), Michigan (Thurs., Feb. 18; 7 p.m.) and Wisconsin (Thurs., Feb. 25; 6:30/7 p.m.) at the Bryce Jordan Center this season.

Penn State's non-conference road schedule includes games against Drexel (Fri., Nov. 13; 7 p.m.), Bucknell (Thurs., Nov. 19; 7 p.m.) and South Carolina (Sun., Nov. 22; 3 p.m.). The Lady Lions will also play in the Maine Classic on Fri., Nov. 27 and Sat., Nov. 28. The Lady Lions will meet Buffalo in the opening round of the Maine Classic at 4 p.m. before facing the host Black Bears or Holy Cross in the championship/consolation game.

The Lady Lions' road Big Ten schedule has the team slated to play Minnesota (Sun., Dec. 6; 4 p.m.), Illinois (Thurs., Dec. 31; 3 p.m.), Northwestern (Sun., Jan. 3; 3 p.m.), Iowa (Thurs., Jan. 14; 8 p.m.), Wisconsin (Thurs. Jan. 21; 8 p.m.), Michigan (Sun., Jan. 31; 1 p.m.), Michigan State (Thurs., Feb. 4; 7 p.m.), Purdue (Sun., Feb. 14; 2 p.m.) and Indiana (Sun. Feb. 28; 2/4 p.m.).

The Big Ten Tournament will be played March 4-7 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. The first three rounds of the tournament will be televised on the Big Ten Network and the Championship game can be see on ESPN2.

Headlining the list of returning Lady Lions is All-Big Ten first team selection Tyra Grant (Youngstown, Ohio), who finished second in the conference and 18th in the country in scoring at a 19.6 per game clip. The preseason Wooden Award candidate, will have a chance to become the fourth player in school history to reach 2,000 tallies as she enters her final season needing 553 points to reach the milestone. Junior guard/forward Julia Trogele (Devon, Pa.) is also back in the fold after leading the team and finishing 12th in the Big Ten with a 6.3 rebounding average. Penn State also adds the 14th-ranked recruiting class by ESPN/Hoopgurlz that includes WBCA and SLAM! Magazine All-American Nikki Greene (Diboll, Texas) and Parade Magazine All-American Alex Bentley (Indianapolis, Ind.).

Lady Lion Basketball season tickets are available by calling 1-800-NITTANY or 814-863-1000. Season tickets are $117 for adults, $52 for youth and $91 for seniors. Penn State fans that attend the Indiana football game can use their football ticket to receive buy one ticket, get one free ticket for the Lady Lions' game against NJIT on Sat., Nov. 15.

The 2010 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State will take place on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m., as the Lady Lions take on Illinois in the Bryce Jordan Center. The game can be seen on www.bigtennetwork.com. The first three Pink Zone events have raised more than $80,000 for breast cancer awareness. This year's fundraising efforts will benefit the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
