Former Lady Lion standout Kelly Mazzante and the Phoenix Mercury claimed their second WNBA Championship with a 94-86 win over the Indiana Fever in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals. It is the second time in three years that the Mercury have taken home the WNBA's top prize.
WNBA and Finals MVP Diana Taurasi led the Mercury with 26 points in the deciding game, while Cappie Pondexter added 24 tallies.
Mazzante is in her sixth season in the WNBA. She averaged 3.4 points and 1.3 rebounds per game this year. In her only other playoff appearance in 2007, Mazzante averaged 6.4 points and 2.0 rebounds per game to lead the Mercury to the 2007 WNBA title.
