EL PASO, Texas - Freshmen Lexi Marton (Aurora, Ontario) and Rachel Lamarre (Montreal, Quebec) are in Texas to train for a two-game series for the Canadian U-20 National Team. The duo will play matches against the Mexican U-20 team in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico on October 29 and 31.
Marton, who has started in every game in central defense for the Nittany Lions, will miss her first start of the season at Indiana. The inaugural Big Ten Freshman of the Week back in August, Marton has proved to be a solid force in a back line that has conceded just 13 goals in 16 matches this season against the seventh-toughest schedule in NCAA Division I.
Also missing the Indiana game will be Lamarre, who has made 14 appearances thus far, with two starts to her name. In the midfield position Lamarre has shown excellent skill and speed on the flanks in her freshman campaign at Happy Valley.
Penn State (9-5-2, 5-1-1 Big Ten) is currently in second place, three points behind Ohio State with a game in hand after a 6-0 rout of Illinois on Sunday. The Nittany Lions travel to Indiana on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. matchup and then return home for Senior Day against Purdue at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
